El profeta y la prostituta:
Diré a Lo-ammi: ¡Pueblo mío eres tú!, y él dirá: ¡Dios mío!" (Oseas 2:23).
Por su parte, Jesús se fue al Monte de los Olivos.
¡No vuelvas a pecar!

Al día siguiente, al amanecer, Jesús regresó al templo. La gente se
acercó, y él se sentó[a] para enseñarles. 3 Entonces los maestros de la
Ley y los fariseos llevaron al templo a una mujer. La habían sorprendido
teniendo relaciones sexuales con un hombre que no era su esposo.
Pusieron a la mujer en medio de toda la gente, 4 y le dijeron a Jesús:
—Maestro,
encontramos a esta mujer cometiendo pecado de adulterio. 5 En nuestra
ley, Moisés manda que a esta clase de mujeres las matemos a pedradas.
¿Tú qué opinas?
6 Ellos le hicieron esa pregunta para ponerle una
trampa. Si él respondía mal, podrían acusarlo. Pero Jesús se inclinó y
empezó a escribir en el suelo con su dedo. 7 Sin embargo, como no
dejaban de hacerle preguntas, Jesús se levantó y les dijo:
—Si alguno de ustedes nunca ha pecado, tire la primera piedra.

Luego, volvió a inclinarse y siguió escribiendo en el suelo. 9 Al
escuchar a Jesús, todos empezaron a irse, comenzando por los más viejos,
hasta que Jesús se quedó solo con la mujer. 10 Entonces Jesús se puso
de pie y le dijo:
—Mujer, los que te trajeron se han ido. ¡Nadie te ha condenado!
11 Ella le respondió:
—Así es, Señor. Nadie me ha condenado.
Jesús le dijo:
—Tampoco yo te condeno. Puedes irte, pero no vuelvas a pecar.
Jesús es la luz
12 Jesús volvió a hablarle a la gente:
—Yo
soy la luz que alumbra a todos los que viven en este mundo. Síganme y
no caminarán en la oscuridad, pues tendrán la luz que les da vida.
13 Los fariseos le dijeron:
—Tú te estás alabando a ti mismo. ¿Cómo sabremos que dices la verdad?
14 Jesús les respondió:
—Aunque
hable bien de mí, lo que digo es cierto. Porque yo sé de dónde vine, y a
dónde voy; sin embargo, ustedes no lo saben. 15 Ustedes juzgan como
todos los demás, pero yo no juzgo a nadie. 16 Si lo hiciera, juzgaría de
acuerdo a la verdad, porque no juzgo yo solo. Mi Padre, quien me envió,
juzga conmigo. 17 La ley de ustedes dice que, para probar que algo es
verdad, son necesarios dos testigos. 18 Pues bien, yo hablo bien de mí
mismo; y mi Padre, quien me envió, también habla bien de mí.
19 Entonces le preguntaron:
—¿Dónde está tu padre?
Jesús les respondió:
—Si me conocieran, conocerían a mi Padre. Pero como no me conocen, tampoco a él lo conocen.

Jesús dijo todo esto mientras enseñaba en el templo, en el lugar donde
se ponen las ofrendas. Pero nadie se lo llevó preso, porque aún no había
llegado el momento de que todos supieran quién era él realmente.
Los jefes judíos y Jesús
21 Jesús habló de nuevo:
—Yo
me voy, y ustedes me buscarán, pero morirán sin que Dios les haya
perdonado sus pecados. A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir.
22 Los jefes judíos dijeron:
—¿Estará pensando en matarse, y por eso dice que no podemos ir a donde él va?
23 Jesús les aclaró:
—Ustedes
son pecadores, como todos los que viven en este mundo. Pero yo no soy
de este mundo, porque vengo del cielo. 24 Por eso les dije que, si no
creen en mí ni en quién soy yo,[b] morirán sin que Dios les haya
perdonado sus pecados.
25 Le preguntaron:
—¿Y quién eres tú?
Jesús les contestó:
—¿Por
qué tengo que responderles? 26 Más bien, yo tengo mucho que decir de
todo lo malo que ustedes hacen. El que me envió dice la verdad, y yo
sólo digo lo que le escuché decir.
27 Pero ellos no entendieron que Jesús les estaba hablando de Dios, su Padre. 28 Por eso les dijo:
—Ustedes
sabrán quién es en realidad el Hijo del hombre cuando me cuelguen de
una cruz. También sabrán que no hago nada por mi propia cuenta, sino que
sólo digo lo que mi Padre me ha enseñado. 29 Mi Padre nunca me ha
abandonado, pues yo siempre hago lo que a él le agrada.
30 Cuando Jesús dijo esto, mucha gente creyó en él.
La verdad los hará libres
31 Jesús les dijo a los judíos que habían creído en él:
—Si ustedes obedecen mis enseñanzas, serán verdaderamente mis discípulos; 32 y conocerán la verdad, y la verdad los hará libres.
33 Ellos le contestaron:
—Nosotros somos descendientes de Abraham, y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Por qué dices que seremos libres?
34-36 Jesús les respondió:
—Ningún
esclavo se queda para siempre con la familia para la cual trabaja. El
que se queda para siempre es el hijo de la familia; si él así lo quiere,
puede dejar en libertad al esclavo. Les aseguro que cualquiera que peca
es esclavo del pecado. Por eso, si yo, el Hijo de Dios, les perdono sus
pecados, serán libres de verdad.
37 »Yo sé que ustedes son
descendientes de Abraham, pero quieren matarme porque no aceptan mis
enseñanzas. 38 Yo sólo les digo lo que mi Padre me ha enseñado. Ustedes,
en cambio, hacen lo que les ha enseñado su padre.
39 Ellos le dijeron:
—¡Nuestro padre es Abraham!
Entonces Jesús les contestó:
—Si
en verdad ustedes fueran descendientes de Abraham, harían lo que él
hizo. 40 Pero yo les he dicho la verdad que he escuchado de Dios, y
ustedes quieren matarme. ¡Abraham nunca hizo algo así! 41 Pero ustedes
hacen exactamente lo mismo que hace su padre.
Ellos le contestaron:
—¡No nos acuses de tener otro padre! Nuestro único Padre es Dios.
42 Jesús les respondió:
—Si
en verdad Dios fuera su Padre, ustedes me amarían, porque yo vengo del
cielo, donde está Dios. Yo no vine por mi propia cuenta, sino que Dios
me envió. 43 Ustedes no pueden entender lo que les digo, porque no les
gusta escuchar mi mensaje. 44 El padre de ustedes es el diablo, y
ustedes tratan de hacer lo que él quiere. El diablo siempre ha sido un
asesino y un gran mentiroso. Todo lo que dice son sólo mentiras, y hace
que las personas mientan.
45 »Por eso ustedes no pueden creer que
digo la verdad. 46 ¿Quién de ustedes puede acusarme de haber hecho algo
malo? Y si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creen? 47 Los hijos de Dios
escuchan con atención todo lo que Dios dice. Pero ustedes no le ponen
atención porque no son sus hijos.
Jesús y Abraham
48 Entonces, algunos judíos le dijeron:
—Cuando decimos que eres un extranjero indeseable,[c] y que tienes un demonio, no estamos equivocados.
49 Jesús les contestó:
—Yo
no tengo ningún demonio. Lo que hago es hablar bien de mi Padre; pero
ustedes hablan mal de mí. 50 Yo no le pido a la gente que hable bien de
mí; es Dios quien lo quiere así, y es él quien juzga. 51 Les aseguro que
quien obedezca mi enseñanza, vivirá para siempre con Dios.
52 Ellos le dijeron:
—Ahora
sí estamos seguros de que tienes un demonio. Nuestro antepasado Abraham
murió, y también murieron los profetas. Sin embargo, tú dices que el
que te obedezca vivirá para siempre. 53 ¿Acaso te crees más importante
que Abraham? Él y los profetas murieron. ¿Qué te estás creyendo?
54 Jesús les respondió:
—¿De
qué me serviría hablar bien de mí mismo? Mi Padre es el que habla bien
de mí, y ustedes dicen que él es su Dios. 55 En realidad, ustedes no lo
conocen. Yo sí lo conozco. Lo conozco, y lo obedezco. Si dijera lo
contrario, sería un mentiroso como ustedes. 56 Abraham, el antepasado de
ustedes, se alegró mucho de que vería el tiempo en que yo vendría al
mundo; lo vio, y le causó mucha alegría.
57 Entonces le preguntaron:
—Ni siquiera has cumplido cincuenta años de edad. ¿Cómo puedes decir que has visto a Abraham?
58 Jesús les dijo:
—Les aseguro que mucho antes de que naciera Abraham ya existía yo.

Entonces aquellos judíos quisieron matar a Jesús a pedradas; pero él se
mezcló entre la multitud y salió del templo.(véanse Juan 8; Juan 1-11).

The next day, at dawn, Jesus returned to the temple. The people came,
and he sat down [ to ] teach them. 3 And the teachers of the law and the
Pharisees brought a woman to the temple. She had been caught having sex
with a man who was not her husband. They put the woman in the middle of
all the people, 4 and told Jesus:
Master, this woman found
committing the sin of adultery. 5 In our law, Moses commanded that such
women the kill with stones. What do you think ?
6 And they made
him put that question to a trap. If he said wrong, they could accuse
him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his
finger. 7 However, as they kept asking questions, Jesus stood and said:
- If any of you have never sinned cast the first stone.

And he bowed again and continued writing on the ground. 9 Listening to
Jesus , everyone started to leave, beginning with the eldest, until
Jesus was left alone with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up and said:
- Woman , who brought you are gone . Has no one condemned you !
11 She answered him:
- That's right, sir. No one has condemned me.
Jesus said:
- Neither do I condemn you. You can go , but do not sin again.
Jesus is the light
12 Then Jesus spoke again to the people,
-
I am the light that gives light to all who live in this world. Follow
me and not walk in darkness, they will have the light that gives life.
13 The Pharisees said to him:
You - you are praising yourself. How do we know you're telling the truth?
14 Jesus answered them:
-
While it speaks well of me, what I say is true . Because I know whence I
came , and whither I go; however, you do not know. 15 You judge as
everyone else, but I do not judge anyone. 16 Doing so would judge
according to the truth, because I do not judge myself. My Father , who
sent me, judge me. 17 Laws of you says two witnesses to prove that
something is true, are necessary. 18 Well, I speak well of myself; My
Father, who sent me, also speaks well of me.
19 Then they asked him
- Where is your father?
Jesus answered them:
- If you knew me, you would know my Father. But do not know me, they know not him.

Jesus said this while teaching in the temple, in the place where the
offerings were put. But nobody took him prisoner, because even when
everyone knew who he really was had not arrived.
Jewish leaders and Jesus
21 Jesus spoke again:
'I am going away, and you will seek me, but will die without God has forgiven their sins. Whither I go, ye can not come.
22 The Jewish leaders said
- Is he thinking about killing yourself, so says we can not go where they go?
23 Jesus said to them:
-
You are sinners , and all who live in this world. But I am not of this
world, because I come from heaven. 24 So I told them that if they do not
believe in me or who I am, [b ] die without God has forgiven their
sins.
25 They asked him:
- Who are you?
Jesus answered them:
-
Why do I have to respond ? 26 Rather, I have much to say about all the
bad things you do. Says the one who sent me the truth, and I only say
what I heard him say .
27 But they did not understand that Jesus was speaking of God, his Father. 28 So he said to them:
-
You know who is really the Son of Man when I hang on a cross . They
will also know that I do nothing on my own but say only what my Father
has taught me. 29 My Father has never left me, for I always do what
pleases him.
30 When Jesus said this, many people believed in him.
The truth will set you free
31 Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him
'If you obey my teaching, you are truly my disciples; 32 and know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They replied:
- We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves of anyone. Why say you 're free ?
34-36 Jesus answered them:
-
No slave stays forever with family for which they work. Which remains
forever is the son of the family; if he wants to, you can set free the
slave. I assure you that anyone who sins is a slave to sin. So if I ,
the Son of God, forgive their sins, shall be free indeed.
37 " I
know that you are descendants of Abraham , but they want to kill me
because they do not accept my teachings. 38 I only tell you what my
Father has taught me. You, however, do what his father has taught them .
39 They said:
-Our father is Abraham!
Then Jesus said to them,
-
If you were indeed descendants of Abraham, they would do what he did.
40 But I have told you the truth which I heard from God, and you want to
kill me. Abraham never did anything like that! 41 But you do exactly
what his father does.
They replied:
-You accuse us of not having another father! Our unique Father is God.
42 Jesus answered them:
-
If indeed God were your Father, you would love me , because I come from
heaven, where God is. I did not come on my own, but God sent me. 43 You
can not understand what I say, because they do not like to hear my
message. 44 The father of you is the devil, and you try to do what he
wants. The devil has always been a murderer and a liar. Everything he
says are just lies, and makes people lie.
45 "Therefore you can
not believe I'm telling the truth. 46 Who of you can accuse me of doing
something wrong? And if I say the truth, why do not you think? 47 The
sons of God listen carefully what God says. But you do not pay attention
because they are not your children.
Jesus and Abraham
48 Then some Jews said:
- When you say that you are an undesirable alien, [ c] and have a demon, we are not wrong.
49 Jesus answered them:
-
I do not have a demon. What I do is to speak well of my Father; but you
speak ill of me. 50 I do not ask people to speak well of me; it is God
who wants it , and he who judges. 51 I tell you, whoever obeys my
teaching will live forever with God.
52 They said:
- Now
we are sure that you have a demon . Our ancestor Abraham died and so did
the prophets. However, you say that you live forever obey . 53 Do you
think more important than Abraham? He and the prophets died . What are
you thinking?
54 Jesus answered them:
- What I would speak
well of myself? My Father is speaking well of me , and you say that he
is your God. 55 In reality, you do not know. I know him. I know him, and
obey. If you say otherwise, would be a liar like you. 56 Abraham, the
ancestor of you , was very glad I'd see the time when I come into the
world; saw him, and caused him much joy.
57 Then they asked him
- You have not even turned fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham ?
58 Jesus said to them:
- I tell you long before Abraham was born I was already.

Then answered the Jews wanted to kill Jesus by stoning ; but he mingled
with the crowd and left the temple (see John 8, John 1-11).
